About Us
AWOR was established on 15 March 1998 in Afghanistan as a woman based Organization and its objectives were to mobilize women, rehabilitate their civil rights, and enhance their capacity and livelihood. Find employment and income generated activities for widows, handicapped and disabled women to make them supply their own needs improve their way of living and strengthen their economy, and finally make them self-sufficient. AWOR was established in a time its need was essential, currently it work by below sectors:
Economic Empowerment: Focus on increasing family income through activities led by women, such as entrepreneurship, skill development, and employment opportunities.
Humanitarian: providing food and non-food aid to families, distribution of shelter equipment’s, as well as distribution of hygiene kits, Winterization kits and NFI kits to the families.
Women’s Education and Rights: Promoting education among women and raising awareness about their rights, including access to education, healthcare, and legal protections.
Community Development and Advocacy: Facilitating connections between women and relevant government organizations to address their issues effectively, utilizing Community Development Committees (CDCs) and networks to disseminate information and promote general knowledge, and establishing Self Help Groups for financial support through microfinance and small loans.
Health Education and Training: Delivering literacy and health training programs in various districts, funded by organizations like OXFAM and UNWFP, to enhance knowledge and awareness on health issues among women and communities.
Agricultural Development: Supporting projects such as carpet and jacket weaving, poultry keeping, and food-for-training initiatives to promote sustainable agriculture, enhance livelihoods, and improve food security in rural areas.
Construction and Infrastructure Development: Undertaking initiatives like the reconstruction of schools and community council buildings to improve infrastructure, provide better facilities, and support community development efforts in the region.
